It is evident that she too loves this area of the country.ĭeanna is a biologist who has taken to hiding herself up in the mountains after having her heart broken. Barabara’s writing paints a picture of beauty of the setting like no other author can. The setting is a small town and the outskirts located within Apalacia. It is also a love of nature, a love of life and a rebirth of love. Only it’s not just about human love, although that is prevalent for all 3 of the characters. The story line follows the 3 lives and it is described as being a love story…and it is. (Funny how that works sometimes.)Īlso note: this review MAY contain spoilers.Ī Prodigal Summer is a beautifully woven piece whose main characters are dancing around each other within their lives without actually touching…until the very end of the book. I also would like to add that I had checked out this title from our local library before and could not get past the first couple of pages at that time. Her writing always has this beautiful melodic feel to it that pulls me in to every word on the page. I should preface this review by saying that Barbara Kingsolver is one of my favorite authors.
